Help Local Families Build a Foundation for Success

Every donation of money, land, and materials supports the housebuilding and hope-building work of Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity, allowing local families to attain strength, stability, and independence in partnership with our organization by building a safe and secure place to call home.

Our partner families build their own homes alongside volunteers, pay an affordable mortgage and are grateful for your help.

Recurring Donations: Dream Builders Club

Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity is happy to accept recurring donations. Donations can be set to occur on a schedule of your choosing, and can be made via check, money order, or credit card. By committing to a recurring donation, you provide our organization with a consistent and reliable source of funding that allows us to plan ahead.

Donate Vehicles

Through Habitat for Humanity’s Cars for Homes program, donated vehicles raise money to help more families. One hundred percent of the net proceeds from the sale of your donated vehicle are used by your local Habitat to build and repair affordable homes. Just a few clicks online can get your donation in process. Someone will even come and get the vehicle for you.

Car donations are another way to support Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity's mission.
  • 100% of net proceeds from the sale of your vehicle will fund our work helping local families here in the St. Augustine area.
  • Your vehicle donation may qualify for a tax deduction.
  • It’s fast and easy. Learn more about how vehicle donations work.

You can donate your car in 3 easy steps:

  1. Start your donation online by navigating to our donation wizard, or call our hotline: 1-877-277-4344
  2. Our team will ask about your vehicle, including the make, model, vehicle identification number (VIN) and current mileage.
  3. When your vehicle is accepted, schedule a day and time for us to pick it up.
  • The State of Florida will require a Certificate of Title in order to donate your car.
  • To complete your car donation, transfer your title by entering the name of the agency that processes our car donations, ADVANCED REMARKETING SERVICES in the buyer/purchaser field. Then, PRINT and SIGN your name in the seller/owner field EXACTLY as it appears at the top of the title.

Real Estate Donations

Land

Land is the first step in building affordable houses, so we are always looking for charitable donations of buildable land in Jackson or Washington Counties. You can donate appreciated real estate, such as a home, vacation property, undeveloped land, farmland, ranch or commercial property. This is an effective way to fund a legacy gift. You can also leave this generous gift while still using the property throughout your lifetime, and you may even receive a tax deduction for your gift.

If you have real estate that you would consider donating to Chipola Area Habitat, please contact Executive Director Carmen Smith at (850) 482-2187 or by emailing executivedirector@chipolahabitat.org.

Estate Donations

Gifts by bequest through your will or trust are one of the easiest and most popular ways to bring people together to build homes and strengthen communities. Some legacy gifts made to Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity can have substantial tax savings. You can reduce or even eliminate tax liabilities on your retirement plan by naming Habitat for Humanity as direct beneficiary. If you have a life insurance policy that has outlasted its original purpose, you can use it to reduce your taxes and create a legacy gift for Habitat for Humanity.

A percentage of the remainder of your estate after other specific legacies have been fulfilled.

A specific dollar amount or stated fraction of your estate or a specified gift in kind, such as collections, art, books, jewelry, etc.

A gift that is originally intended for other beneficiaries but, in the event of their prior passing, is redirected as a charitable donation.

You can receive income for life and reduce your taxes while supporting Habitat for Humanity by transferring assets to fund the trust. Not only does this pay income to you or your beneficiaries for life, but you also receive an income tax deduction the year you transfer assets to the trust. The remaining portion of the trust, after all payments have been made, goes to Habitat for Humanity. You can benefit from a charitable remainder trust by receiving income for life (for you or your heirs), receiving a charitable income tax deduction for the charitable portion of the trust, and by creating a lasting legacy of hope and community by bringing people together to build homes.

Managed Fund Donations

There are several ways to donate to Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity through managed fund accounts. Each offers unique benefits, and it is best if you work with your financial advisor to find the method which works best for you.

Give through your donor-advised fund

A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to support your favorite causes. Benefits of giving through a donor-advised fund include:

  • DAFs allow you to donate cash, stock and other assets as charitable gifts over several years.
  • DAFs provide a flexible and easy method of giving if you support multiple charities.
  • DAFs can be used to complement or replace a private foundation.

As with all gift planning, you should consult your financial adviser and lawyer to help you get started with recommending a grant to Habitat for Humanity. Your donor-advised fund gift to Habitat will help families in your community and around the world partner with us to build a better life starting with decent, affordable housing.

Give through your IRA

Many donors feel that the direct transfer of funds from an IRA is a great way to help families and make it a part of their legacy, and now it’s a permanent option. Here’s how it works:

  • You must be 70½ or older.
  • An individual may transfer up to a total of $100,000 per year and a married couple may give up to $200,000.
  • Your gift must be transferred directly from the IRA account to Habitat for Humanity.
  • Your gift is a transfer of funds from your IRA to Habitat for Humanity, so it does not create taxable income for you and is not considered a charitable tax deduction.
  • The transfer of funds counts towards your annual required minimum distribution from your IRA.

Donate stocks and bonds: Stocks, bonds and mutual funds that have appreciated in value are among the best ways to ensure all people can partner with Habitat for Humanity to have affordable, safe housing. You may receive a charitable income tax deduction for the full market value of the stock up to a maximum of 30 percent of your adjusted gross income and avoid paying the capital gains tax on any increase in the value of the stock.

Donate Wish List Items

At Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity, we are always accepting donations! Our wish list items currently include:

We use our box truck to pick up donated items, deliver items to customers who purchase from our ReStore, and to move items between building sites. Having an additional box truck would empower us to work more efficiently.

We need warehouse space! Can you help?

Expanding our ReStore would allow us to increase our capacity and better serve our community.

Fuel is one of the largest expenses our organization faces, so donations of gas cards are especially appreciated.

We always need new tools and donations of building materials for our construction sites.

When our volunteers work up quite the appetite on our home builds and it’s always nice when a local restaurant supports their efforts by providing a free meal.

It might not seem like much–it’s even less than a cup of coffee!–but if just 200 people pledge to give a dollar a day, we can build a new home for a family in need!

We’re looking for a few (more) great companies to partner with us as we build homes from the ground up by providing the funding for the build and/or by providing a volunteer team to work on site.

Technology changes quickly and it can be difficult–and costly–for our organization to keep up.

Though you’ve probably seen this ask before, it’s an important one because the more we sell, the more houses we can build.
