Helen Callaway has been a volunteer with our organization for approximately 14 years. She started her service as a ReStore volunteer, with regularly scheduled shifts as a cashier. For many years, when the staff was smaller, Helen was central to the organization as staff vacations were coordinated around when she could fill in at the ReStore.
Throughout the years as she became more acquainted with the organization and areas of which she could serve, she expanded her service. While keeping her regular shifts at the Marianna ReStore, she began coordinating meals and lodging for Collegiate Challenge volunteers, and coordinating the procurement of donations from local businesses to aid in affiliate fundraisers. For many years she helped to plan the Habitat Auction. She has diligently served on the organization’s Annie Bradwell Scholarship committee, which is awarded through the Chipola College Foundation.
In recent years, Helen has spent many hours organizing and preparing jewelry that has been donated to the ReStore, and making sure volunteers and staff on construction sites had meals. When the organization expanded our service area to include Washington County, she assisted with the reorganization of the Chipley ReStore.
Helen’s service spans almost every aspect of the organization, including the ReStores, construction, volunteer services and resource development. Her commitment to the success of our organization is evidenced by her willingness to fill any gap or need that is presented. Her service is invaluable.
