A unique partnership formed by Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity, Auburn University’s Rural Studio, and Chipola College’s Workforce Development program, the Chipola Street Development was formed to meet the expanded need in our community after Hurricane Michael. This project serves as an initiative to develop a scalable and sustainable permanent housing solution for rural, vulnerable populations.
The Chipola Street development provides affordable homeownership while incorporating the importance of best-practice and beyond code building technology, workforce training and development, and highlights the importance of public-private-non-profit partnerships.
The Chipola Street Development was dedicated on July 21, 2022.
The homes in the Chipola Street Development were built with a focus on permanent affordability through quality construction and have been certificated through the Florida Green Building, Fortified, and Energy Star programs.
