Women Build 2023

Join a community of local women volunteering together to celebrate our strengths and have fun while building permanent and affordable homes for local families.

Chipola Area Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce Women Build 2023!

Women Build is a national initiative to provide safe and decent homes for families in need of affordable housing by recruiting, educating, and inspiring those in our community to fundraise and build. Through these efforts, lives are transformed.

Why Women Build?

Women Build is an event that includes both on-site construction and an advocacy event that spotlights the homeownership challenges faced by women. Achieving housing stability is far more difficult for women to realize than for men in similar situations:

Men typically have access to higher credit, allowing them to secure better loans and purchase better-quality homes. Caregiving responsibilities often limit a woman’s ability to dedicate the necessary time to obtaining and maintaining consistent employment and decent housing. Single women are denied mortgages at higher rates than single men, despite the fact women are more reliable at paying back mortgages.

Women Build addresses these issues head-on through the collective power of women across the community.

All women who want to learn how to build and construct a home are invited to join us.

Women Build is open to individuals and families, corporate groups, and community groups. No experience is necessary.

Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, and alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved and improves the community that we share.
